ATLANTA, Nov. 13, 2024 — Tapestry Development Group, a mission-driven affordable housing developer, is proud to announce its participation in the inaugural Georgia Supportive Housing Institute. This initiative, launched by the Corporation for Supportive Housing (CSH) in partnership with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA), aims to catalyze the development of affordable, supportive housing across the state. Tapestry joins a distinguished cohort of five teams selected to participate in the Institute, along with additional individual entities representing housing developers and service providers.

The Georgia Supportive Housing Institute, a comprehensive training and mentorship program, was developed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to create supportive housing for Georgians in need. This intensive program includes topics such as multifamily property design, securing funding, sustainable operations and integrated service delivery for vulnerable populations. Georgia now joins several other states in utilizing the CSH Institute model to address local housing challenges and foster cross-sector collaboration to meet the state’s critical housing needs.

Tapestry Development Group will collaborate with Circle of Hope, the primary service provider, and PHASE Housing Management, the property manager, on a project in Cornelia, Georgia. This partnership focuses on creating a supportive housing community that combines affordable living with access to essential services, helping residents achieve greater independence and stability.

“We’re honored to be part of Georgia’s first Supportive Housing Institute and to contribute to innovative solutions for the affordable housing crisis in our state,” said Jon Toppen, president of Tapestry Development Group. “Our team is committed to working alongside Circle of Hope and other community partners to provide sustainable, supportive housing solutions that empower residents to lead fulfilling lives.”

Funded by the HOME American Rescue Plan Program, the Supportive Housing Institute offers participating developers and service providers access to unique financing and learning opportunities. Each organization can apply for funding through DCA’s Housing Tax Credit Program, as well as an anticipated Supportive Housing Notice of Funding Opportunity, enhancing the state’s capacity to support sustainable housing initiatives.
